Elliott Yamin
Produced by Josh Abraham, Stargate, and others
Debut effort from this unlikely American Idol finalist who has undergone a much needed makeover and delivered a very respectable CD.  Features the Stargate-produced "Wait For You" and his cover of "A Song For You" (his standout performance from Idol).
JOE - Ain't Nothin' Like Me
Various Producers
JOE attempts to stay relevant after his last two albums failed to match the success of My Name Is Joe.  On this attempt, in spite of being a very capable songwriter and producer, he hands over the reigns to various hot property producers like Tim & Bob and Stargate.  The album is mostly average but I do like "If I Was Your Man" and the title track.
Musiq Soulchild - Luvanmusiq
Various Producers
His critically acclaimed fourth CD is actually a disappointment after the very enjoyable Soulstar.  Even though Musiq is sporting a new record label this time around, his songs fail to break new ground for me and only occasionally impress (like my favorite track "Teach Me").
George Benson & Al Jarreau - Givin' It Up
Produced by John Burk
I was expecting to completely love this CD pairing two of my all time favorite musicians.  Instead, what we have is a very likable album that doesn't quite rise to the level of classic.  There are special moments like the fun title track and the simple, tender ballad "All That I Am" but other songs seem like the Paul McCartney collaboration on "Bring It On Home" feel like an overindulgence of ingredients.  The album does feature beautiful duets with Jill Smith and Patti Austin.
